What Would My Day Look Like?

Every day can be different! An SLP might:

  • Work one-on-one or with small groups of students
  • Help students improve speech sounds and pronunciation
  • Help students develop language and communication skills
  • Support students who use alternative or augmentative communication
  • Help students understand and express ideas
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and other professionals
  • Track student progress and adjust strategies
  • Help students use communication skills in the classroom and everyday situations

How do I get there?

High School → Bachelor's Degree → Graduate Program in Speech-Language Pathology → Clinical Training → Licensure/Certification → SLP

While you're in high school, explore courses and experiences related to communication, psychology, biology, anatomy, education, and human development.
