  • Human Trafficking Awareness Month Webinar Series : Join us each week as we explore a new thread within the K-12 Child Trafficking Prevention Education Guides. We will also highlight districts, and how they are helping to create Child Trafficking Free Zones in our Florida schools.

  • Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA)

    Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches parents, caregivers, teachers, school staff, and other caring adults how to help adolescents (ages 12–18) who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.

    This course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for helping young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

    Legislative Requirement

    Florida law (§1012.584, F.S.) requires school districts to provide Youth Mental Health Awareness and Assistance Training for school personnel.

    The Florida Department of Education has approved Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) as the official training program to meet this requirement.

    Course Details

    • Recommended for all instructional and non-instructional school-level personnel
    • Delivered as a 6.5-hour, instructor-led, face-to-face course
